“We are grateful…” A generosity one-liner

Today’s blog post is a one-liner:

“We are grateful for God’s blessing through your generosity.”

I found this sentence in my notes, along with a verse from Psalm 51 “Give me again the joy of your help.” Both seemed worth sharing. Some of you will be writing sermons, planning worship, writing fundraising letters or preparing for meetings.

We are grateful for God’s blessing through your generosity. Do go ahead and use those words. Could you add a story of how you or your organization is experiencing God’s blessing right now? I’ll share some examples:

  1. My neighbours went through their children’s clothes to share with a newcomer family of 6 that needs help. Three big bags of clothes! That drop-off will happen sometime today (it was my turn last week), along with a grocery gift card. I’m smiling to think how happy those kids will be when they see the hoodies, T-shirts etc. that are the same as the ones their friends at school wear.

  2. I’m looking forward to a board meeting - yes, really! - as an opportunity to hear how an organization close to my heart is doing, caring for their community in the midst of fiscal challenges. I’m looking forward to a tour of the school, and to hearing stories.

“We are grateful for God’s blessing through your generosity.” I pray that your prayer of “Give me again the joy of your help” will be answered and that you experience God’s blessing through the generosity of other people.
